Are you an artist passionate about culture, innovation, and social change?
AWỌ Center invites you to participate in our open call!
Through dynamic platforms including an art exhibition in San Francisco, an AR/VR event amongst other styles, our curated events, culminating in the presentation of Africa Day 2025 celebrates at the intersection of the arts, music and community for social change, bringing together Bay Area Artists, community leaders, policy influencers, youth, individuals and families. The selected artworks will have the unique opportunity to contribute to immersive experiences that inspire change and drive innovation.

Submissions are open until March 31st, 2025 5pm. Selected artists will be notified by April 6th, 2025.

Africa at your Fingertips African Drumming Classes
Come and learn contemporary and traditional West African drumming that will empower you on a lifelong drumming path. Participants will be introduced to the Djembe and learn or refine basic Djembe drumming patterns such as bass, tone and slap. Participants will also learn sounds and songs, start and stop signals in a supportive peer learning environment. Class culminates into a fun-filled participant performance at the end of the last session.
Drums will be provided with material fee. Materials Fee: $30. NOTE: class on 5/18 will begin at 4pm

There are many people with different shades of skin color, all with their own unique and often unheard stories. What would our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces or places of worship feel like if we embraced the stories of those different from ourselves?
